Your next step is to advertise for or contact possible service providers. As a rule of thumb, plan to contact at least 3 people for each position. This will give you some diversity and a broader perspective during your interview process. As with any other hiring situation, be sure to ask for references/feedback, and be open about what you’re looking for. Involve them in a dialogue so you both are clear about the expectations and responsibilities of the position. Also, be sure to look for specialized experience in your key desired areas. Especially if your position will require book-keeping, marketing, or some other higher level skill, be sure to look for demonstrated evidence of this skill. While anyone can learn these skills, you may not want to be someone’s training ground.
