An important element of self promotion is to keep your promises. Recently, I spoke with a consultant who I was interested in working with on a certain aspect of my business. We seemed to hit it off really well, and I was looking forward to moving ahead. However, in our first call, he promised to send me some information- which I never received. When I followed up on it, I was promised that it would be sent to me within the next 2-3 days. After waiting a couple of weeks, and still not receiving it, I wrote it, [and that company] off. If a business can’t supply me with information in a timely manner, despite numerous promises and assurances– how can I know that this company will deliver on other promises (more important ones) in the future? If you want to be more effective in your business, one way to achieve this is to keep your promises.
