It’s a good strategy to always have your promotional materials created, updated, and ready to hand out at a moment’s notice. What materials should you create? 1) business cards 2) a brochure or promotional flyer 3) a client list 4) a press listing (if applicable) 5) a black & white ad for your business Just this week, I’ve been asked for my business card, a brochure, and an ad. To my chagrin, all of these items were somewhat out of date- I got too busy working with clients, working on my next books, doing PR, to pay much attention to my business’ support/promotional materials. Luckily, it didn’t take much time to update them- but it did make me think that once every few months, it would be a good idea to check these items and make sure they adequately reflect my current expertise and scope of capabilities. Since I rarely (if ever!) suggest that you do anything I haven’t done myself, I updated my materials and they are now ready for the next requests. If you haven’t checked your promotional materials recently, you might benefit from doing the same. By having these materials edited, polished, and ready to go, you’re primed to jump on opportunities as they arise, with no delay. This can be exhilarating, gratifying, and lead to new opportunities for greater business success.
