Whew. I’m not sure where the summer has gone. Coming off of my three busiest months- ever- I see that I was only partially successful in keeping up my marketing avenues while I was busy- as the lack of new blog posts will attest. Now, I know that I SHOULD have kept marketing, but somehow, there just didn’t seem to be time to do it. So here’s what I learned, and it’s relevant to running your business, too: First, it’s probably not possible to market everyday when you are really busy. But at least keep aside a half day each week to market. Plan that in now, no matter how busy you are. If you can’t plan it in, it’s time to hire an associate or get an assistant. Second, the more systematized your marketing, the better. I love blog writing- a lot- but it’s not as systematized in my business as, say, writing a newsletter or maintaining a webpage. Since blog writing is one task that I exclusively do (i.e. no parts are delegated out), it was one of the first to go when I got too busy. So what that tells me is it’s time to systematize this process, too, so it can keep running even when business picks up. I’m pondering how best to do that, and will let you know what I find. In the meantime, it’s good to be back, and I’ll be gearing back up to more regular blog-writing in the next few weeks. Can’t wait to be back in regular touch!
