As a psychologist, I’m well-versed in helping people move through fear. And fear of selling seems to grip many new business owners. It seems that most of us have had at least one shopping experience ruined by an overly zealous salesperson- and we vow never, never to become one of THEM. A problem arises, though, when we realize that we need to sell our products/services in order to stay in business. Sometimes, entrepreneurs rise to the challenge. Many times, though, they accept much less success than they truly desire. A good tool for getting over your fear of selling is starting off by talking to people you know. Share your product/service with people who care for and support you- this is a great confidence booster.
