What is CRO?
Conversion rate optimization (or CRO, as it’s called for short), is the process of setting up lead generation pages (such as landing pages and specific website pages) and tracking their results- in terms of conversion rate.
Conversion rate is defined by how many people take the action you want them to take.
Every day, hundreds of studies are published about the best colors for your website, the best text for your call to action buttons, how to keep visitors on your site longer- and so on. The problem with this tremendous amount of information is three-fold.
First, who has time to read each and every new study and change their website everyday? I’m sure there are some people who do that, but not those who have a primary passion that lies elsewhere. Finding time to wade through the research is one problem.
The second problem is that every single one of these research studies ends with a disclaimer that says, “your results may differ, be sure to test on your own audience.” That leaves you with a good idea, but one you can’t guarantee will work for your site.
The third problem is that even if you set up these tests yourself, there is no guarantee you’re setting them up correctly. This means you may end up using faulty data to drive important business decisions.
The better approach is to work with someone, like me, who can set up reasonable tests for you- on your website, with your traffic- so you end up with results that are 100% customized and relevant to you.
