Public Service Announcement: I wanted to make you aware of some changes happening in Google April 21. On this date, Google will be penalizing search rankings for sites which are not mobile friendly.
This means that your site and its contents will be ranked less well if your website is not mobile friendly.
Here’s what to do next:
1) Go to this page and enter your website URL to see how mobile friendly your site currently is: https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/mobile-friendly/
If your site checks out fine- no other action is needed.
If your site isn’t mobile friendly, here’s what to do then:
1) Contact your tech person or tech team about getting your site made mobile friendly. Do this soon so the change can be in place by April 21.
2) Once the site work has been completed, double check it once more using the URL above.
If your site is not mobile friendly, and you don’t have a tech person or tech team to help you, get in touch with me. I have people on my team who can do this work for you.
I think this step is most important for those of you with local businesses (i.e. physicians, therapists, attorneys, retail stores etc.) but it’s probably a good step to take for anyone who has a website. More and more searches are coming through mobile devices and you want your site to be easy to read and accessible to all your users.
I wanted to make sure you knew about this important change. Please let me know if you have any questions.
